Dear friends,
I am extremely pleased and honored that you have re-elected me to represent us in Augusta for the next 2 years. Mr. Parry proved to be a formidable opponent and he executed a strong and spirited campaign. I congratulate him on his effort and wish him an improved lobster season. I am grateful to so many of you, because due to your efforts I have been afforded the opportunity to serve again.
I am strengthened by the national results of 2008. The United States of America has embarked on a new a chapter of American history, and I am proud to have played my small part. As a state and nation we face big challenges, and I am hopeful that our incoming administration will work with the states and towns to improve prosperity. As I said often during the campaign, our most significant task is to improve our ability to create jobs and strengthen the economy. I remain committed to pursuing policies that will strengthen our position in the global economy.
Since Election Day, I have been assigned to the Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs. An assignment known to be difficult in good financial years and extremely difficult in today’s economy. I look forward to this challenge. Similar to many families and businesses, our government must make necessary cuts in spending to remain solvent. As a small business owner and former member of the Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services, I am greatly positioned to prioritize cuts while preserving the state’s safety net for our most vulnerable citizens.
I am interested in hearing your concerns and can best be reached at 985-5733 or gary@garyconnor.org
Kind regards,
Gary Connor
State Representative
